Today, Blue Sea Wood is proud to showcase a special custom project we recently delivered to one of our premium clients. It is truly heartening to see this piece, as this wood table has perfectly filled and beautified our client’s home exactly as envisioned.
The Story of This 1.3 x 3m Live Edge Masterpiece
The journey of this table began when a client reached out to us looking for a grand wooden table for their home. They required an exceptionally spacious size of 1.3 x 3 meters with a thickness of 3 inches to provide a solid, sturdy feel. Most importantly, it had to be a single solid slab with a “Live Edge” to preserve the authentic, natural beauty of real timber.
The Crafting Process
Once we received the brief, our team immediately began the process of hand-selecting the finest timber.
Wood Selection
We chose a massive Rain Tree/Monkey Pod slab, a wood variety renowned for its impressive scale and stunning grain patterns. This specific slab features flowing, wave-like grains with a multi-dimensional contrast between deep and light brown tones. We took great care to preserve the Live Edge, keeping the natural organic curves of the tree to ensure this table is truly one-of-a-kind.
Processing & Refinement
After selecting the perfect slab, our expert craftsmen began the transformation. This involved precision leveling and sanding every square inch until the surface was incredibly smooth. This meticulous attention to detail is vital to ensure a premium tactile experience and to let the natural beauty of the grain shine through.
Finishing & Coating
We opted for a semi-gloss finish to enhance the warm, luxurious tones of the Rain Tree wood. The resulting surface is silky-smooth to the touch while maintaining the authentic feel of real wood. Furthermore, the high-quality coating protects the timber, ensuring durability for long-term use.
Custom-Designed Legs
or the base, the client chose a modern matte black steel design. We custom-engineered these legs with dual-side support beams to handle the immense weight of the large slab while ensuring absolute stability. This sleek, minimalist design complements the massive wood top perfectly, fitting seamlessly into a modern home interior.
