The Vision: A Cozy Corner with a View
This project began when a café owner approached us with a specific dream: to create a relaxing window-side nook where customers could sip their favorite coffee while soaking in the outside view. The brief was clear a long, single-slab solid wood bar table and matching chairs that evoke a warm, natural, and stylish atmosphere. Once we had the vision, our team set out to hand-pick the finest timber for the job.
The Material: The Art of Monkey Pod (Suar) Wood
For the tabletop, we selected a premium slab of Monkey Pod (Suar) wood. This species is famous for its dramatic contrast:

The Sapwood: Creamy, light tones on the edges.

The Heartwood: Rich, deep chocolate browns in the center.
To ensure the table fits perfectly against the window, we crafted one side with a straight edge, while preserving the Live Edge (natural shape) on the other. This maintains that “raw” organic charm while ensuring the piece is practical for the space.
The Finish: Depth and Durability
We applied a high-quality lacquer coating to protect the wood from moisture and scratches. Not only does this add a layer of durability, but it also makes the natural grain “pop,” giving the wood a deep, multi-dimensional glow and a silky-smooth touch.
